Himesh Reshammiya Joins Veer Pahariya’s Naam – To Live Is War
One of the most anticipated Bollywood projects slated for 2027 has added a major musical name to its growing team. Himesh Reshammiya has joined Naam – To Live Is War, the upcoming film presented by Mahesh Bhatt and led by actor Veer Pahariya. The development brings together two longtime collaborators and signals that music will play an important role in shaping the film’s identity.
The announcement adds fresh momentum to a production that has been steadily building interest since it was revealed in June. Alongside Pahariya, the cast includes Varun Sharma, who is set to take on a negative role for the first time in his career. Prashant Narayanan, Vijayant Kohli and Shefali Bagga were also recently announced as additions to the ensemble.
Why Himesh Reshammiya Is a Natural Fit
According to a source quoted by Bollywood Hungama, the makers were looking for a composer who could respond to the film’s intense subject and give its themes a distinctive musical treatment. Reshammiya was drawn to the story and impressed by the team’s commitment, making the decision to come aboard an easy one.
His involvement is notable because it extends beyond a conventional music assignment. Reshammiya’s label, Himesh Reshammiya Melodies, has also acquired the film’s music rights. That arrangement gives his team a central role in developing and bringing the soundtrack to audiences, while placing the music at the heart of the project’s promotional journey.
For a dramatic title such as Naam – To Live Is War, the soundtrack could help establish the film’s emotional range, from high-stakes action and conflict to more intimate character moments. Although the makers have not yet revealed details about the songs, singers or release schedule, Reshammiya’s dual role as composer and music-label owner has raised expectations among fans following the film.
A Reunion Rooted in Bollywood History
Reshammiya and Mahesh Bhatt share a professional history that stretches back more than two decades. Reshammiya composed “Soorat Pe Teri Pyar Aave” for Footpath (2003), a film starring Aftab Shivdasani and Emraan Hashmi. Bhatt was associated with the project as a writer.
Their collaboration continued with Kajraare (2010), for which Bhatt wrote the story and screenplay. Reshammiya starred in the film and composed and sang its songs. Their return to working together on Naam – To Live Is War therefore represents a reunion after a long gap, bringing their shared creative history into a new production.
The professional connection appears to have endured even when the two were not collaborating. In an interview with The Times of India following the release of Reshammiya’s mystery thriller The Xposé in 2014, the musician recalled receiving a personal call from Bhatt. “Bhatt sahab called to congratulate me and that was an emotional moment for me. His praise means a lot,” he said. That earlier exchange offers a glimpse of the mutual respect behind their latest partnership.
Veer Pahariya Leads a Growing Ensemble
Naam – To Live Is War marks Pahariya’s third film, following his appearance in the Akshay Kumar and Sara Ali Khan-starrer Sky Force (2025) and the romantic comedy Prem Keetanu (2026). The new project gives him another opportunity to take on a prominent role, this time in a film described as intense and driven by conflict.
Varun Sharma’s casting is another point of interest. Widely recognised for his comic performances, particularly in the Fukrey franchise, Sharma is moving into unfamiliar territory with his first negative role. The shift could offer audiences a different view of the actor and add contrast to the film’s ensemble. With Narayanan, Kohli and Bagga also on board, the cast brings together performers from varied screen backgrounds.
Himesh Reshammiya’s Busy Film Slate
The project joins an already active list of upcoming films for Reshammiya. His slate includes Sooraj Barjatya’s Yeh Prem Mol Liya, the Emraan Hashmi-starrer Gunmaaster G9, Anil Sharma’s Arjun Naga and Vikram Bhatt’s horror film 1920: Cold Winter.
The range of titles suggests that Reshammiya is continuing to work across different genres and creative teams. His contribution to Naam – To Live Is War is especially significant because it renews a long-standing association with Bhatt while combining music production with the film’s wider release strategy.
What We Know About the Film
Presented by Mahesh Bhatt under the Utsav Entertainment and Productions banner, Naam – To Live Is War is directed by Sidhaant Sachdev and produced by Utsav Upadhyay and Riddhi Chawda. The film is expected in 2027, though further details about its plot, release date and music are yet to be announced.
With a rising lead actor, a comedian stepping into a villainous part, an expanding cast and a soundtrack led by Reshammiya, the film is assembling several elements that could help it stand out in the coming Bollywood release calendar. The reunion between Bhatt and Reshammiya adds a story of its own—and gives audiences another reason to watch for updates as production progresses.
